My Skills

What I Do

No matter the role or project, I’m confident in the skill set I bring to the table. Take a look below to learn more about my specific abilities, and feel free to get in touch if you’d like to learn more.

Skills: Skills

Quantitative and Analytic skills

Mathematical and Statistical Analysis

My intellectual curiosity, ability, and passion for asking questions are what led me to pursue my Ph.D. in Mathematics, and my long-standing interest in computation and application of science
pushed me towards the sub-category: Applied Mathematics and Numerical Analysis. While pursuing my Ph.D. I have developed a keen interest in quantitative data analysis. In my Ph.D. thesis “Inverse Problems, Regularization, and Its Applications", I developed novel methods to handle the instabilities in mathematical models arising from noisy data. This has great applications in machine learning, data analysis, regression models, predictive modeling, etc. Some of my research works can be found on my Research works page.

Numerical and Computational Skills

A Valuable Skill

In my research, I develop many mathematical models describing certain natural phenomena, such as modeling the volatility of a financial asset (like stocks or bonds) or a model to deblur a blurry image (known as deblurring). After developing the mathematical theory to solve the above models one needs to validate the computational viability of the theory, via constructing numerical algorithms to solve it in real-time. During my Ph.D. I used MATLAB (institute licensed) to code the algorithms needed. Recently, I have changed my focus towards Python as it's free and contains a wide variety of packages and libraries needed to solve Machine Learning problems (my current research interest). In addition, being a Bio-Statistics minor, I have also worked in statistical software like R ad SAS. Some of my recent numerical and computational project works can be  found in my Projects page.

Teaching and Professional Speaking

Spreading Mathematics

I was fortunate to teach many math courses during my Ph.D. at UAB, such as calculus courses, statistics for undergraduates and teachers, and many more. I am fascinated by mathematics, and while teaching mathematics I saw a unique opportunity for me to engage, encourage and develop the curiosity of my students to this fascinating subject. My philosophy for teaching can be found here. I also had the opportunity to organize and give talks in some seminars and conferences.
